Chantiers jeunesse Maroc (CJM)

-A brief historical view:
The voluntary service started in Morocco with a great historical project
"the Road of Unity" 12000 young volunteers had to build a road which
linked the central zone which was under the frensh domination to the north
of the country which was dominated by the spanish.

This project took place the year Morocco got independant ,that is in 1956.
In 1961a group of volunteers from "the Road of Unity" together with
another group of youth which had some experience in voluntary service
through their participation in international workcamps in Europe undertook the
creation of a national structure dealing with voluntary service.


"Chantiers Jeunesse Maroc" was born and can be considered as a
continuation of the spirit of the "Road of Unity" "Chantiers Jeunesse Maroc",
since it was born participed in different important national projects such as
"DERRO" (Economical and rural development of the occidental Rif)
(1968-1969) , Haouz ,a project in which young farmers where taught new
agricultural techniques preparing for the change in the regime follarving the introduction of irragation , the school canteen operation , building of schools , canteen in rural primary schools and different campaigns against illeteracy.

Today , with a rich experience behind it , CJM is preparing itself to enter new fields of concern such as the preservation of the environment ,the preservation of the architectural heritage and social work in its varios faces.

II-Chantiers Jeunesse Maroc's activities :

The association managed to assert its existence in the national level where
its presence has been confirmed by different activities undertaken by the local
branchs which covert great deal of the territory .Among its activities we can
note:

ªThe organisation of international workcamps through the country.
ªExchange of volunteers and of camps leaders.
ªOrganisations of camp-leader training session , semenaries,….
ªPublication of paamphlets dealing with associative work.

Chantiers Jeunesse Maroc wiches to achieve through its activities social,
cultural and educational goals:

©The formation of citizen responsable towards himself and society.
©The contribution in the social and economical development of the under-
priveleged classes.
©The development of exchange between youth of different horizons throuth
international workcamps.
©The development of the group spirit in individuals.
©The strenghtening of friendship ,peace and solidarity values.


IV-Chantiers Jeunesse Maroc's contacts and relations

Since its creation CJM has enriched its experience benifiting from different
experiences of others. Beside its being a founding member of UMAC (1963)
( Moroccan Union of Workcamps Association ) it has developed a network of
international contacts with more 90 organisations.

CJM1 RABAT – 16/7/-30/7/2008

Rabat has been designated as the capital of Morocco in the beginning of the present
century, but it did not wait till the 20th century to be distinguished as a city .The remparts,
the huge historical gates , and hassan tower are there to remind us of that. The climate
is agreable in summer.
It's known by its nice beaches about 15 km to the south of Rabat.
"Chantiers jeunesse Maroc"is organizing a workcamp with the collaboration with the Ministry
of education.
Number of participants: 20.
NATURE OF THE PROJECT:
Painting class-rooms and gardening in a secondary school in yacoub el mansour/Rabat.
The duration of work will be 5 hours /a day.
MEALS:
Meals will be prepared by volunteers.
ACTIVITIES:
You will also have to bring with you working clothes , a sleeping bag , and anything which
could contribute to the good progress of the workcamp (game sets , musical instruments ,
cooking recipe , etc….)

LODGING
The volunteers will be lodged in the secondary school.

How to get there
If you came by plane : from Casablanca Mohammed V airport take the train to Rabat Agdal
railway station and get off there. From there take a taxi (bleu color) to the lodging:

Fes was the first capital of Morocco as well as the oldest city of the country built in 809.
Again in the 13th century during the reign of the Merinid dynasty, and in the 14th century ,
the city became the spirituel and cultural centre of traditional Morocco.
Fes is also the capital of skilled-craft ; specialized in pottery , copperplates, and lather
work . It's known by its monuments : Fes El Bali:la medina, El Attarin; l'horloge; Mosqué
el Quaraouiyine etc…
" Chantiers jeunesse Maroc" is organizing a workcamp with collaboration
with the city council of Fes.
Nature of project:
The work consists of creating a green space in the city of Fès.
The duration of work is 5 hours a day .
Number of participants:20
Meals:
Meals will be prepared by volunteers.
Lodging: volunteers will be lodged in Lycée Technique , route de Sefrou.

Dar Kabdani is a small village 15 km the Mediteranean coast. Its 30km away from Nador which
is an important city east of Morocco.
Chantiers jeunesse Maroc is organizing a workcamp with the collabotation with rural council of
Dar Kabdani.
The nature of the project:
The work consists of painting some frescoes in the village , collecting dirt and
sensibilizing the inhabitants on cleanliness.
Number of volunteers: 20
Meals:
Meals will be prepared by volunteers.
Lodging: volunteers will be lodged in College El Farabi-Dar Kebdani.

Marrakech is one of the imperial city of Morocco; Morocco was named after the city of
Marrakech .
Marrakech benefits of an exceptional situation . Its is close to the high Atlas Mountains,
and at the same time no far from the Atlantic coast (100 km away ) .
It is known mainly through its legendary place of Jemaa El Fna but there is a lot to be seen
in Marrakech ; it self and its sunoundinys.
Chantiers jeunesse Maroc is organising a workcamp with collaboration of Marrakech
delegation of Ministry of Education.
Nature of the project:
The project consists of gardening and cleaning and painting in a secondary school.
Number of participants:20
The duration of work will be 5 hours /a day.
Meals and activities:
As far as food is concerned meals will be prepared by the volunteers.
You will also have to bring with them working clothes , a sleeping bag , and anything which
could contribute to the good progress of the workcamp (game sets , musical instruments ,
cooking recipe , etc….)
The work will be going hand in hand with other activities which will be undertaken by
the volunteers themselves :outings , family visits , cultural entertainment .

If you come by plane to Casablanca take the train to "Casablanca voyageurs" and the change
into the train to Marrakech, see the train timetable.
If you come by train , get off a Marrakech train station , take a small taxi to the lodging, see

CJM5 Al Houceima1

Al Houceima is a town on the Mediteranean coast East of Morocco on the Rif chain of
Mountains. In 2004 an earthquake hit the region and left many casualities. It is a well known
through Its touristic resorts.
CJM is organising a workcamp with the city council.
Number of participants: 20.
Nature of the project:
Creating a small garden in the city center and visiting patients in the children hospital.
The duration of work will be 5 hours /a day.
Meals:
Meals will be prepared by volunteers.
Activities:
You will also have to bring with you working clothes , a sleeping bag , and anything
which could contribute to the good progress of the workcamp (game sets ,musical

The volunteers will be lodged in “ institut de technologie appliquée”,quartier Mirador,
Al houceima.

Founded in 1476, Chefchaouen is small town located in the Rif provinces at 60 km to the south of
Tetouan it is not far for of the Mediteranean coast .
The area is favourable to arboculture and goasts breeding .The province of chefchaouen has very
distinguished craft industry vocation.
It will be an apportunity for you to discover cultural realities and habits of the population, it is
known by its panoramic naturel view.
" Chantiers jeunesse Maroc" is organizing a workcamp with the collaboration with delegation of
Ministry of education.
Nature of the work :
The work consists of laying out , a gardening and painting in a high school. W’ll send you name and

The duration of work is 5 hours a day .
The work will be going hand in hand with other activities which will be undertaken by the
volunteers themselves :outings , family visits , cultural entertainment , sports, visits historic
monuments etc…
LODGING:
The volunteers will be lodging in high school.

Moulay Bousselham is a a small village on the Atlantic coast between Kénitra and Larache.Its
Connected to the motorway Rabat /Tanger. The seaside village Moulay Bousselham is
situated at 70 km in the north of Kénitra city and at 35 km in the south of Larache city. For more

region of Gharb Chrarda Ben Hssan.
Nature of the work :
The work consists of painting classroms and some frescoes in a primary school.
The duration of work is 5 hours a day .
The work will be going hand in hand with other activities which will be undertaken by the
volunteers themselves :outings , family visits , cultural entertainment , sports, visits historic
monuments etc…
Lodging:
The volunteers will be lodging in “groupe scolaire Moulay Bousselham”.
Meals : will be prepared by volunteers.
You will also have to bring with you working clothes , a sleeping bag , and anything which could contribute to the good progress of the workcamp (game sets , musical instruments cooking recipe , etc….)
This will give you an interesting opportunity to discover cultural reality an
habits of the local population.

Tangiers is an ancient moroccan city.Its situation at the extreme north of Africa.at the Gibraltar detroit has made of it for a long time the gate to Morocco.
Ksar Sghir is a village 20 km away from Tangiers on the Mediteranean coast.
Chantiers jeunesse Maroc will organise a workcamp with collaboration of the delegation of
Ministray of education.
Nature of the project :
The work consists of painting classrooms and gardening in the primary school in Ksar sghir.
The duration of work is 5 hours a day .
Meals:
Meals will be prepared by volunteers.
You will also have to bring with them working clothes , a sleeping bag , and anything which
could contribute to the good progress of the workcamp (game sets musical instruments,
cooking recipe , etc….

CJM 9 Ain Leuh (rural area) .

Ain Leuh is a village situated in the middle Atlas at 95 kms to the south of Fes; and 25 km
from Azrou .Iti is famous for the snowfall during winter and middle temperature in summer .
The middle Atlas big summits : Michlifen, Hibri and Habri are at a height of 2000 m.
The area is also covered with tremendous Cedar forests.
It's known by its panoramic naturel view and authentic monuments .
"Chantiers jeunesse Maroc" is organizing a workcamp with the collaboration of rural council.

Nature of the project :
The work consists to built a wall to prevent from rain erosion.
Number of volunteers :20.
The duration of work is 5 hours a day .
The work will be going hand in hand with other activities which will be
undertaken by the volunteers themselves :outings , family visits.
Lodging:
The 20 volunteers will be staying in " Dar Ettalib" quartier administratif -Aïn Leuh centre.
Meals will be prepared by volunteers. You will also have to bring with you working clothes,
a sleeping bag , and anything which could contribute to the good progress of the workcamp
(game sets , musical instruments cooking recipe etc….)
This will give you an interesting opportunity to discover cultural reality an habits of the local
population.

station and get off there, there take the train to Meknès station and get off there and

Errachidia is an old city of the south of Morocco , Tafilalt. It's an oasis which commands a region which influenced a lot historical events all along life in Morocco.It was the starting point for the conquest of Africa behond the Sahara.
The temperature in summer is around 40° C.
Chantiers jeunesse Maroc is organising a workcamp with the collaboration of delegation
of ministry of young.
Nature of the project:
Planting trees, gardening and painting some frescoes in “centre d’accueil”
The duration of work is 5 hours a day .
Meals:
Meals will be prepared by volunteers.
You will also have to bring with them working clothes , a sleeping bag , and anything
which could contribute to the good progress of the workcamp (game sets musical
instruments ,cooking recipe , etc….)
Lodging:
The volunteers will be lodged in “centre d’acceuil” - Errachidia.

CJM11 Berkane/Tafoghalt

Tafoughalt is a touristic rural area near the city of Berkane (25km) in the east of Morocco
and not far from the Mediterranean coast.Tafoughalt is also situated in the Rif mountains and
known for its Waterfalls and its moderate climate.
Chantiers Jeunesse Maroc is organizing a workcamp in collaboration with the rural council
of Tafoughalt.
Nature of the project: gardening : the work consists of draining the badly engaged ground
making and more fertile planting and watering.
The duration of work will be 5 hours a day.
Food will be prepared by the volunteers, you will also have to bring with you working clothes , a sleeping bag , and anything which could contribute to the good progress of the camp
(game sets , musical instruments, cooking recipe,etc….).
The work will go hand in hand with a programme of activities undertaken by the volunteers themselves: outing, visits , cultural entertainments, sports….
Lodging:
The 20 volunteers will be staying in centre jeunesse et sports.

Fes was the first capital of Morocco as well as the oldest city of the country built in 809.
Again in the 13th century during the reign of the Merinid dynasty, and in the 14th century ,
and in the 14th century , the city became the spirituel and cultural centre of traditional
Morocco.
Fes is also the capital of skilled-craft ; specialized in pottery , copperplates and lather work.
It's known by its monuments : Fes El Bali:la medina, El Attarin; l'horloge; Mosqué
el Quaraouiyine etc…

Rissani is a town, 95 Km of Errachidia province ( the region of Meknes / Tafilalet) in the middle of Tafilalet plain which extends to the farthest south east of the kingdom and – next to the monuments of Sijilmassa, one of the oldest Islamic towns in the north of Africa (the 9th century). The region is also considered to be the land of the Alaouit Dynasty.
Its palm tress and historical, castles that still keep on the traditional ways in building, all give the region a beautiful view. In summer the temperature is around 42 degrees.
35 km farther away from Rissani we find Merzouga, a famous tourist place in world.
As far as weather is concerned Rissani is well known by its dry climate a because of the natural factors related to the geographical position on the one hand and the to the man’s movement on the other.
Tafilalt is exposed to the desertification, the problem which threatens the agricultural areas. The population and the infrastructure related to the water drain, Moreover desertification menaces the socio economical level.

Nature of the project: the work consists of gardening as well as cleaning and sensibilizing the inhabitants on cleanliness.

Volunteers will be lodged in “Dar Ettalib” – Midelt.

If you came by plane : from Fès Saïss airport take the taxi to "Bab Boujloud" bus station , from there take the coach to Midelt , there is 4 buses every day.
We will wait for you in Midelt coach station.

From Casablanca Mohammed V airport : take the train to Casablanca Voyageurs station ;see train timetable;from there take a taxi (red color ) to "Oualed Ziane” coach station , from there take the coach to Midelt coach station , there is one every 3 hours.

Meknès is one of the imperial cities of Morocco during the reign of Moulay Ismail(1672-1727).
It is known for its rtemparts which surround the city, the old Medina and the doors through which
the visitor enterthe Medina (Bab Mansour).Itis 60 km south of Fès and very close to the Atlas
mountains.
Chantiers jeunesse Maroc is organizing a workcamp with collaboration the city council.

Nature of project:
The work consists of draining the badly engaged ground , making land more fertile planting and watering .

Accomodation:
Volunteers will be lodged in “Fandouk Hanaa”-Meknès.
Meals: meals will be prepared by volunteers.
Activities:
you will also have to bring with you working clothes , a sleeping bag , and anything which could contribute to the good progress of the workcamp (game sets , musical instruments cooking recipe , etc….)
This will give you an interesting opportunity to discover cultural reality an habits of the local population.

CJM20 Errachidia Mdaghra

Errachidia is an old city of the south of Morocco , Tafilalt. It's an oasis which commands a region which influenced a lot historical events all along life in Morocco.It was the starting point for the conquest of Africa behond the Sahara.
The temperature in summer is around 40° C.
Mdaghra is situated at 12 km from Errachidia.
Chantiers jeunesse Maroc is organising a workcamp with the collaboration of Mdaghra Municipality.

Nature of the project: the work consists of painting classroms and painting some frescoes
in Ain Meski school.
The duration of work is 5 hours a day .
Meals:
Meals will be prepared by volunteers.
You will also have to bring with you working clothes , a sleeping bag , and anything
which could contribute to the good progress of the workcamp (game sets musical
instruments ,cooking recipe , etc….)
Lodging:
The volunteers will be lodged in camping Ain Zarka.

Al Houceima is a town on the Mediteranean coast East of Morocco on the Rif chain of
Mountains.
In 2004 an earthquake hit the region and left many casualities. It is a well known through
Its touristic resorts .

CJM is organising a workcamp with the town council.
Number of participants: 20.
Nature of the project:
Help to prepare Al Houceima festival activities.
The duration of work will be 5 hours /a day.
Meals:
Meals will be prepared by volunteers.

Tetouan it is not far for of the Mediteranean coast .
The area is favourable to arboculture and goasts breeding .The province of chefchaouen has very
distinguished craft industry vocation.
It will be an apportunity for you to discover cultural realities and habits of the population, it is
known by its panoramic naturel view.
" Chantiers jeunesse Maroc" is organizing a workcamp with the collaboration with delegation of
Ministry of education.
Nature of the work :
The work consists of laying out , a gardening and painting in a high school. W’ll send you name and

monuments etc…

approximately 13500 inhabitants.
It is close many touristic resorts : Ain Tamda , Cascade Bouigoundaze , a dam El Hansali and
Spring Oum-Rabii ( mother spring).
