JAUNIMO SAVANORIŠKOS VEIKLOS CENTRAS “DEINETA”
CENTER OF YOUTH VOLUNTARY ACTIVITIES (CYVA) DEINETA
The organization was established in 1988 as a union of several student clubs.
DEINETA is an independent non-political voluntary service organization fully responsible for its budget and structure. We organize international short term youth and teenager voluntary camps in Lithuania and also send volunteers abroad to our partners’ international projects. In 1988
DEINETA started a project “Youth for nature protection” and organized 2 first voluntary work camps. Year by year the quantity and quality of our work camps increased, and now during the summer season we organize more then 20 work camps, we send over 100 volunteers abroad and can host about 200 international volunteers in Lithuania. At present
DEINETA is a coordinator of EVS, ICYE, and Civil service host projects.
AIMS · to promote international co-operation and understanding among young people from different countries and different cultures;
· to help young people realize their voluntary ideas;
· to provide opportunities for young people without distinction to race, language, religion or social status, who wish to acquire cross cultural skills and gain international experience for their personal and professional development;
We support the ideas of solidarity and humanity, and think that the international volunteer projects is the area, where everybody is able to express themselves for the sake of peace.
Membership:
Alliance of European voluntary service organizations - candidate member
Eastlinks – full member
WORKCAMPS Our work camps normally run from the end of June till the beginning of September and last for two weeks. There are usually 8-10 participants and 1-2 camp leaders in each project. We do not organize big camps in order to create warm and friendly atmosphere among the participants. The camp leader(s) takes an active part in the camp work as any other volunteer. He/she is also the person who makes the life of the camp run smoothly: takes initiative in solving problems that may occur in organizing work, food preparation, leisure time etc.
The activities of our camps include organizing leisure time for children, restoration of museums, cleaning and preserving nature, assistance in organizing festivals etc.
Participants work for up to 6 hours per day, weekends are free. Most tasks on the camps can be completed without any substantial physical effort or any special skills.
Volunteers have 3 meals per day. We offer a chance to try Lithuanian national meals and we expect participants to propose their own national dishes.
AGE LIMIT Adult camps: 18-30; Teenager camps: 15-17.
ACCOMMODATION Our volunteers can be accommodated in clubs, schools or tents. Volunteers must bring their own sleeping bags. Other details usually follow in the info packs.
Application fee; look for exact fees in the camp lists.

WORK/ACTIVITIES:During the Soviet times the biggest part of the traditional architectural heritage of the regional park was destroyed. Especially damaged was the old countryside and farmsteads: the biggest part was eliminated and the rest of it was rebuilt regardless of the tradition. The reason to start the project was the reconstruction and restoration of the ancient Samogitian architecture, in particular the renovation of one of the buildings in Jautmalke’s countryside. This country has preserved its traditional environment. The landscape in this place is very rich: it boasts forests, hills, swamps, rivulets, lakes, fields… everything that you need for an active cognition of the nature. You will not see any invasion of the modern, so it is easy to get an idea of the old-fashioned countryside.
POSSIBLE TASKS FOR VOLUNTEERS: - Renovation (painting) of the old building belonging to Kurtuvenai regional park;
- Cleaning the recreation zone of Bijote;
- Cleaning bank of the lake;

SPECIAL PROGRAM: Discussion on: “Prejudices and stereotypes”Games: group games focused on intercultural learning. Excursion to Vilnius and TrakaiVILNIUSVilnius is the capital of the Republic of Lithuania. Naturally, it is the largest city in the country.The population of Vilnius is about 542.287. Of them 57.8% are Lithuanians, 18.7% Poles, 14% Russians, 4% Byelorussians, 0.5% Jews and the remaining 5% comprising some other nationalities.The Old Town, historical centre of Vilnius, is one of the largest in Eastern Europe (360 ha). The most valuable historic and cultural heritage is concentrated here. The buildings in the old town - there are about 1.5 thousand of them - were built in a number of different centuries, therefore, it is a mixture of all European architectural styles. Although Vilnius is often called a baroque city, here you will find some buildings of gothic, renaissance and other styles. The main sights of the city are the Gediminas Castle and the Cathedral Square, symbols of the capital. Their combination is also a gateway to the historic centre of the capital. Because of its uniqueness, the Old Town of Vilnius was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.TRAKAIOne of Lithuania's many former capitals, Trakai is located just 28km west of Vilnius, is a charmingly small settlement, strategically placed in the middle of five large lakes. During the excursions you will have opportunity to see and to learn much more than this!ACCOMMODATION/FOOD:The accommodation is in the monastery, 2-5 persons per room.
